Angel Lemus is a self taught textile artist who was born and raised in El Centro California. Angel draws inspiration from human connection in order to capture themes of nostalgia, hope, and love through recycled materials. Based in San Francisco, both past and present lived experiences are drawn from in order to practice the traditional methods of appliqué and quilting. 

Social class is expanded on through the use of materials that have historical significance such as denim and lace. Materials with juxtaposing purposes are layered upon one another on tapestries to represent the transient yet beautiful nature of being a first generation Chicana woman.
