Based in San Francisco, Julius Is a 23-year-old interdisciplinary artist.

Currently, they are finishing their undergraduate degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis in sculpture. They work primarily in ceramic sculpture, often incorporating mixed media elements to highlight texture and contrast as a form of balancing realism with distortion. Much of their work is focused on portraiture and the figure, in tangent with gestures that suggest sanctity, suffering, and idealized purity. Familiarity is important within their practice as they are interested in how collective recognition allows viewers to confront their own relationships to religion memory, authority, and oppression.
