Keagan Marcella is an interdisciplinary artist currently practicing out of South Boston, Massachusetts. Marcella is a 2020 graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art and Design earning his BFA in Studio for Interrelated Media. The majority of Marcella’s early work spanned a series of different mediums including Lighting design, spoken word poetry, performance, Zines, Process pieces, and 3-D Objects. Concepts and subjects would consistently transition between introspection, home, and group story telling. Marcella’s recent practice has been manifested through found images translated into acrylic paintings, sometimes including elements of collage. He uses his series of paintings to explore the use of images in the digital age and explore how these images are used as storytelling devices when taken out of the context of the screen and shown through the lens of paint. These paintings touch on comedy, memetics, and nostalgia as a tool to help split the viewers interpretation into both intentional meaning, or lack thereof, and personal meaning. Outside of his artist practice Marcella often works with non-profit organizations, mainly including The Boys & Girls Club
